 Dobroyd Aquatic Club is located on the quiet waters of Iron Cove in Sydney Harbour. This is a very safe and pleasant venue for skiffs, dinghies and sailboards. Iron Cove has no launching ramps so there is little traffic that is common in other parts of the harbour. Sailors can enjoy their sport with minimal interference. DAC offers sailors, and their families, an elevated clubhouse on Rodd Point with a good view of Iron Cove and a spectacular cityscape after dark. Members can participate in regular races every week through the summer (September to April). A typical summer weekend program is. Saturday morning training is for young sailors. In these dinghy classes, young primary school children learn to sail in Sabots. Saturday afternoon races are run for the following sailing classes: Sabots, Lasers, Herons, Windsurfers, 125's & open Class using the VYA yardstick which includes Cherubs, Spirals, Mirrors, Moths, NS14, Tasers and any other dinghy you may have. Generally the races start at approx 1400 hours depending on the class. Sunday is usually devoted to Sailability. A sailing dinghy class developed for the disabled. In the winter there is a combined race on the first Sunday of each month starting at 1300 hours. The club also has training sessions for motor boats. These are for people that wish to support other sailing events. Our clubhouse situated on the water is for hire to the public and is used for social events such as weddings and birthdays. |
